Illegal Gambling Tycoon Arrested Again

A former gambling key player, who once ran a ring that reached from Pennsylvania to California, has been arrested again.

Federal agents believe that the gambling game mafioso is once again engaged in running an illegal gambling game ring, thereby violating the terms of his parole. The arrest took place on Wednesday morning.

John F. “Duffy” Conley, an ex- Robinson, PA resident, was released from federal prison two years ago, after having served a decade for a 1995 conviction on illegal gambling game charges. Conley is alleged to have run a gambling game business that regularly took in $15 million per year in profits.

According to federal prosecutors, Conley has been up to his old tricks since his release. In January, Pennsylvania state investigators raided businesses in Allegheny and Washington Counties owned by Conley. The investigation into the gambling game ring began last year, in February.

In court papers, federal prosecutors said that Conley now runs an off-shore gambling game ring that takes in large sums of money. They asked that he be jailed until his trial, since they believe that Conley might intend to leave the country.

U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab will conduct a detention hearing on Wednesday.
